Wheel Throwing: Beyond the Basics Course
Description
Our Wheel Throwing: Beyond the Basics Course is designed for students who have prior experience on the pottery wheel and are ready to refine their skills and expand their techniques.
In this course, students will build on foundational wheel throwing knowledge by focusing on consistency, control, and more advanced forms. You’ll work on refining shapes, improving centering and pulling techniques, and learning how to create more intentional, elevated pieces.
Students will explore techniques such as throwing larger forms, shaping more complex silhouettes, and developing cohesive sets like matching bowls or cups. Trimming and finishing techniques will be emphasized to elevate each piece from functional to beautifully crafted.
Throughout the course, there is room for both guided projects and personal exploration, allowing students to grow in both skill and creative confidence.
During the final portion of the course, students will glaze their work using our studio color palette, completing pieces ready for everyday use or display.
Classes are intentionally kept small (maximum of 6 students) to provide a focused, supportive environment with personalized instruction.
